Orton pond

P&DAA have been granted access to Orton Pond which some of you may know as the Disabled Anglers Pond at Goldie Lane, Orton Waterville.
The terms of our agreement with the owners are that this venue is only to be used for the purposes of junior coaching, youth involvement and community events.
It DOES NOT form part of the Association's portfolio of open access fisheries.
An aim of the Association is to encourage junior anglers into the sport and this is a safe environment to start youngsters off with their first fishing experience.
It is also a safe venue for disabled anglers and we will be actively encouraging people with all types of disability to be involved.
The Association has fully qualified Angling Coaches trained by The Angling Trust who carry full DBS clearance and Insurance.
Today we started the process of tidying the pond up after years of neglect and there is some way to go yet. We did however leave having made fishable swims in front of four of the platforms (see pictures).
There is much work to do including establishing the level of fish stock and supplementing as necessary.
If you are the parent/carer/grandparent of a youngster who would like to have a go at fishing then please get in contact.
Similarly if you are involved with a community group who would benefit please get in touch with me by email jonfnewman@aol.com
