*FISH KILL UPDATE*

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE WATER IN THE AREA, HANDLE ANY FISH OR TOUCH THE WATER BARE HANDED

THE CHEMICAL INVOLVED IS STILL UNIDENTIFIED AND SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC HAVE REPORTED INSTANT AND SEVERE SKIN IRRITATION FROM DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE FISH AND WATER

IF YOU DO VISIT THE AREA PLEASE CLEAN HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTERWARDS

Heartbreaking to see such an overwhelming amount of fish, mainly roach having been needlessly killed, some to large specimen proportions as you can see. Numbers into the tens of thousands.

The Environment Agency and Anglian Water – Love Every Drop are in attendance today continuing investigations into the source and carrying out further testing, as well as the Angling Trust visiting to assess next steps

The fish will remain on site until investigation is complete and will then be removed

The incident appears to be contained within the Goldie Lane stretch and proceeding no further today and we have seen normal fish activity in situ and nearby, which is encouraging

Anyone seeing any fish in distress or dead elsewhere or with any information on this incident please report to the Environment Agency incident hotline on 0800807060 or ourselves on 07702440892

Many thanks for your cooperation
