Bring your team to the river

A cleared bank and reed margin on the Coronation Channel.

If your business is looking at a team building day, a corporate social responsibility day or a give-back day, we will put your people on the bank and give them something real to do.

Himalayan balsam grows head-high along the Nene. It shades out everything native beneath it, then dies back in the autumn and leaves the bank bare for the winter floods. Bare bank washes away. Pulling it is a day's work for a team and most of a season for a handful of volunteers, which is why a group makes such a difference.

The jobs change with the year. Balsam through the summer, bank and swim clearance from autumn, path and platform work in winter. Whatever the season, it is work that needed doing anyway and would otherwise wait.

We bring the tools, the gloves, a safety briefing and someone who knows the water supervising throughout. Your team brings boots, old clothes and a packed lunch. We can take groups of most sizes across around twelve miles of the Nene, several miles of the Welland and the lakes at Ferry Meadows.

There is no charge. We are a volunteer-run association and the help is the point. What you get is a day that is genuinely useful rather than an invented task, and a stretch of river that is measurably better for it.
