Complaints & Disciplinary Policy

How we handle complaints and conduct, fairly.

OrganisationPeterborough & District Angling Association Last reviewedAugust 2026 Next reviewAugust 2027

1. Start informally where you can

Most problems are solved by a conversation. If something's wrong, a peg, a decision, another member's behaviour, raise it with the relevant department head first. The team page lists who covers what.

2. Formal complaints

If that doesn't resolve it, or it's serious, put it in writing to the Chairman at chairman@fishinginpeterborough.co.uk with what happened, when, where and any witnesses. We'll acknowledge within seven days and aim to respond fully within 28. If the complaint concerns the Chairman, send it to the Head of Finance at finance@fishinginpeterborough.co.uk instead.

3. Disciplinary matters

Breaches of the rules, from fishing without a valid ticket to abuse of volunteers or biosecurity offences, are investigated by officers not involved in the matter. The member concerned is told what's alleged and given the chance to respond before any decision. Sanctions range from a warning to suspension or expulsion from the association, in proportion to the breach.

4. Appeals

A member may appeal a disciplinary decision in writing within 14 days. Appeals are heard by committee members who took no part in the original decision, and their decision is final.

5. Bailiffs and volunteers

Complaints about the conduct of a bailiff or club volunteer go to the Head of Enforcement at enforcement@fishinginpeterborough.co.uk, or to the Chairman if you'd rather. Our bailiffs carry club ID, and anyone claiming authority without it should be reported.
