Elton Fishery

The Elton Fishery is a syndicate run by P&DAA with a limited number of members and is always fully subscribed, however any member may ask to join the waiting list. There is usually a small number of non-renewals during the close season and new places are offered in strict order from the list. An annual syndicate membership fee is payable.

Members may also opt to include the Wellington Fishery at a small additional charge.

The upper limit of the fishery is one field above where the backwater leaves the main river and the lower limit is the Nassington Road bridge (aka The Red Bridge). The fishery includes the backwater but not continuous on both banks (see fishery map) and the Willow Book for two fields above its confluence with the backwater.

Members access the fishery via a locked gate for which keys are issued (deposit required) and have a designated fenced and gated parking area.

The prime attraction at Elton are barbel and this stretch produced the River Nene record of 19lbs 4oz.

Elton is a very mixed fishery and there are specimen roach and chub which are well worth pursuing. A good head of pike and perch are present again to specimen proportions along with the occasional river carp. There is a very large head of mixed species of silver fish as well as a shoal of decent size bream which tend to inhabit the lower end of the fishery.

Please note, livestock are grazed in the meadows.
