Milton Ferry

The upper limit of this left bank section is the railway bridge that crosses the river knows as The North West Bridge. Along the upper section there are some enticing overhanging trees providing good cover over a variable depth of water although the deeper water is generally on your own bank being the outside of a long sweeping bend.

All of the river species are to be found on this fishery including some tench and occasional carp.

Getting there

The lower limit of Ferry Fields is at Milton Ferry Bridge and to access from this end leave the A47, signposted for Castor, but park on Ferry Hill postcode PE5 7BU in the spaces provided, respecting disabled spaces and the turning area at the bottom of the hill. To the right hand side of the bridge enter the field via the pedestrian gate and walk upstream.

If you wish to fish the upper stretch there is parking on Mill Road, Castor, postcode PE5 7BS. Where you see the road start to drop down a hill there is a gateway on the left hand side, (look for the bench seat) and some limited parking on the road verge. A broad bridleway (Landy Green Way) leads down to the river but be warned this is almost a half mile walk and uphill all the way back! At the bottom you can turn either right or left.
